WITNESS THE BIRTH OF A PHENOMENON

Location : Cnr. Punt Road and Rowena Parade, Richmond.

Time : 6.30pm start, Tuesday 12 June.

What the... : We'll be walking/ambling/jogging and eventually running from Richmond, 'round the MCG, up to Flinders Street, across the bridge, down across the river and back up to Swan Street. It will be haphazard. Professional athletes are banned. It will involve significant stretches of brisk walking and talking shit. But the best part is taking your seat at the Corner Hotel at the end of it all, your pint of ale in front of you and your fellow unfit flunkies by your side. What could be better?

Mikey and I have tested this. It has a 100% success rate. You trust us, right?

RSVP by comment to make sure you're not left behind.

in theory I would be interested, but I can't do exercise without a well-equipped changeroom/my house at both ends of it. call me vain, but I just don't like the idea of going to a pub straight after a "brisk walk" looking like a sweaty-faced, straggly-haired monster.

Same. I find it hard enough to allow people to see me running about in unflattering exercise gear, but for people to think I conduct my daily business in it? NO.

(Although I do actually live close enough that I could detour home and freshen up first, haha.)

Me too! We could totally detour though, but by the time I got myself to the stage of 'allowing others to see me' everyone would heading home from the pub!

Well, what do the girls say to hitting up the RRC sometime(s) throughout the week and going for a spin on the bikes, or a class or something, something that doesn't involve the outdoor cold, or non-excercising people seeing me puffed and feral?

Ba da ba ba ba...ich liebe es! I love the RRC, and have been away too long. Shit, I have a membership there! Best be usin' it. I've never taken classes there before, but the machines are quite good. I'm up for it!

i have nothing else to cling to!

i'm too much of a girl. and although i don't give a shit what i look like while we're actually jogging, there's no way i'm changing and freshening up in the pub toilets for 20 mins while you guys are happy sinking piss in the bar. :)

i don't get why you have to change. maybe that's a guy thing. i sit there in my sweats and get comfortable. it's going to be pretty obvious to all and sundry that we've just been for a run and we're going to look like people who have been running.

dude, even bedraggled from a run you will be better presented than eighty percent of the people who drink in the corner on a tuesday night.

Can I just say to anybody if you're interested that running/walking the 4.5 kilometres will really get the heart rate going and consequently sinking two pints will have you launch from sober to 'OH YEAH, LET'S FIGHT SOME COPS!' in about five minutes. It's awesome.

I can totally pretend I would go to this and that I'm all about the fitness and the running and whatnot because I'm a billion miles away and nobody will actually expect me to come.

YESSSSS.

haha.

if i was all about the fitness and the running and whatnot, we wouldn't be having beers afterwards!

it is great fun though, and you're welcome to join anytime you're in my neck of the woods.

Can we make it, say, 7.30 next time? It can be tricky for me to make 6.30 if I have meetings on, and it would mean Dan could probably make it too...
